my passion projects
After finding out that my son Henrik had Down syndrome, I immersed myself in learning everything I could about his diagnosis. Later, we also learned that Henrik is autistic. Like many families, our journey came with uncertainty, but it also introduced us to a community filled with strength, compassion, and unconditional love.
Before Henrik was even one year old, I became Vice President of Friends, where I began supporting families like ours and those closely connected to our community. I help organize many of our events, including our Buddy Walk, which has become one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. Seeing families come together, feeling supported and celebrated, is something I will never take for granted.
A few years later, the National Down Syndrome Society asked me to be the photographer for their Buddy Walk weekend. I was absolutely ecstatic—this opportunity felt surreal. Since then, NDSS has trusted me to be their main photographer for several events, including the Gala and the Tremonti Golf Tournament. Each event is more than just a job to me; it is a chance to give back to the organizations that gave my family hope, support, and a sense of belonging when we needed it most.
Through this work, I’ve met incredible families from all over the world who share stories so much like our own. I’ve also had the unexpected honor of meeting celebrities I never would have imagined crossing paths with—but the true joy always comes back to the families, the children, and the love that fills every room.
I am endlessly thankful to these nonprofits for believing in me, for welcoming my family, and for allowing me to use my talents to help tell their stories. Photographing these moments isn’t just about capturing images—it’s about preserving joy, resilience, and connection. This work comes straight from my heart, and it will always be one of my greatest honors.
